She's covered sports for the biggest outlets around the globe. She spent almost a decade reporting on the sport for The Washington Post, including football, tennis, and basketball. In 2004, Nichols moved on to ESPN for a nine-year run during which she was awarded two Emmy Awards and appeared on some of the network's most popular shows, such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. She also served as a sideline journalist for the Monday Night Football broadcasts. Next, she moved on into CNN sports and then Turner. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. Over a billion viewers watched the show across the globe. During this time Nichols reported on TNT's NBA broadcasts which included playoffs, regular season, and All-Star broadcast teams. Her work on behalf of TBS also included golf and baseball coverage as well as Final Four broadcasts by CBS. Only the second woman has been chosen from more than 200 nominees over the history of 42 years for the award.
