Niykee is still writing songs despite having been caught up in the recent turmoil. Then I get an idea of a song and begin writing it immediately. When I sit on my back porch playing guitar, the lyrics just come out and can be completed in less than thirty minutes. While she develops her skills as a lyricist, Niykee explains that her pain from the history is an unending source of unlikely inspiration. Even when I'm not writing literally about things that have been a part of my life, all the trauma of my childhood and losing my sister ends being incorporated into my songs, she states. The pain of losing my sister and my childhood influences the songs that I compose. It's crucial for me to find a deeper meaning to everything I perform.
